Pink Socks, They always Look Girly, Unless They Just Look Cute

Ok, I know you now have "Black Socks" going around in your head. So do I, but in my head I am rewriting the lyrics to describe something Aidan did this morning.

Ok, here goes:

Pink Socks,
They always look Girly
The longer you wear they the warmer you get.
Sometimes they look kinda cozy,
but, Aidan keeps saying "I won't steal them yet."

Pink Socks,
They always look girly,
The longer you wear them the warmer you get.
Sometimes they look kinda cozy,
Now, Aidan's decided "I'll take what I can get."

Pink Socks,
They always look girly,
The longer you wear them the warmer you get.
Sometimes they look kinda cozy,
Now Aidan's stole them, I'll be cold in a bit.

Pink Socks,
They used to look girly,
The longer he'll wear them the warmer he'll get.
Sometimes they look kinda cozy,
I know he is practicing, he'll pull them on yet.

Pink Socks,
They used to look girly,
The longer he wears them the warmer he gets.
Sometimes they look kinda cozy,
I know he is thinking, "Yes, I did it."

ALL BY MYSELF!!

Long time, no post.

I am sorry I haven't posted in a while. I have been busy with the boys. Aidan has been good, but T. is being very aggressive and getting on my nerves. I know that part of it is that T. is not seeing his mom as often as he wants, he has just today got a new tooth, but he is so much more destructive aand aggressive than Aidan was at his age.

Today wasn't too bad because it was short, we had a long walk and T. had a long nap. I had a horrible tuesday and yesterday we couldn't get out because it was raining so hard and the double stroller doesn't have rain protection. I may just have to say scew it and get Aidan a full rain suit and have him on the front. He would probably be happier with that anyway.

After Aidan's nap today (which was shorter than he would have liked) Aidan did the strangest and cutest thing. He just lay down on the living room floor. About 15 minutes later he moved about 2 feet anf then did it again. A few minutes later he cuddled with me for about half an hour. Needless to say he went to bed very easily tonight.

Sorry for the rambly post, I hope to post more coherently tomorrow.

I Can Pick Out an Apple All by Myself

Aidan is quite fond of fruit as long as it is whole. He loves apples and nectarines and plums, but if I cut them up for him he just spits the pieces out of his mouth.

This afternoon after his nap Aidan was doing his usual rooting around in the bookshelves and found the fruit basket. He pick out an apple and started using those chompers of his to take some huge bites out of it. Of course he left most of it for someone else to finish, but he did try for a nice healthy snack.

And you know what they say . . .

Canadian Idol:Update

So they had the Final two compete yesterday. Hmm, well it was ok and I am pretty sure that Eva will win, but it wasn't the most exciting Canadian Idol ever. I think there were only two things really of note.

1: Farley, wow man, your fashion sense is truly out there. I am sure that no other man could pull off the outfit you had on last night except perhaps Willy Wonka. (Just for those of you who don't know he was wearing a white suit with black accents a white bowler hat and a big black and white polka dotted tie.)

2: Zach, you are so emotional. I think that you must be great with your kids. They will always know what you are feeling and I think that for the most part that is a good thing.

Love Thursday

Baby Love. It makes me smile anytime I see this picture.

Life was very busy

Did we mention that Nana Lorraine was in town for a quick visit (and a Girl Guide conference)? That's this week's excuse for a lack of postings (which I'm in the middle of rectifying). Mom was really happy to get time out here and enjoyed the conference and even managed to get me back into guiding. I am not sure if I will stay after this year but up until the trip to Quebec with eleven 14-16 year old girls I really enjoyed it.

Nana and Aidan

Nana at the Museum of Anthropology

This weekend past was Labour Day weekend. The weather was gorgeous, so we took advantage of it. Need to get outside before the rainy season starts!

On Sunday we took Aidan to the water park (Yes, I'm aware of the irony of going to the water park during the sunny, dry season before the rain comes). He sure likes holding the hose. And, he sure doesn't like sharing it. (Last night we were passing a real fire hydrant and he was stearing us towards it.)

In fact, he gets right pissed when someone else wants to use the hose! You should have heard the growling!

On Monday we picked Mom up from the Guide camp in the far reaches of Maple Ridge and brought along a picnic basket (thanks CMT!) to have lunch at Alouette Lake in Golden Ears Provincial Park. After lunch, we went for a bit of a hike, with predictable results.

Sooooooo......

File this in the "Doh! Should have thought about that!" folder.

You know how those disposable diapers get pretty bulky as whatever chemical inside of them swells as it absorbs moisture? Guess what happens when a toddler (who will not be named) sits his butt down in a pool of water with a fresh diaper?

It explodes!

Well, pretty much. It swells so quickly that water-absorbed crystals erupt from the lining of the diaper. Man, the stuff was everywhere. Hopefully we got it all cleaned up ... I can't imagine that it's particularly healthy to eat.

Here's some pictures of the boy recreating the incident, but with a swim diaper on.

No, I don't know why he was trying to lie in the water.

He's not drinking the water -- he's blowing bubbles. No, really.

The Amazing Climbing Boy will climb anything!

All text ammended from Anthony's earlier posts. I am quite happy to take my husband's hard work and make it my own.

Dinner Out

So, last Wednesday (my mom was in town, and that was the night she could babysit) a bunch of us went out to dinner. We played it up classy, with the excuse that it was a "post-graduation" dinner (Tomer and Ali had graduated within the past few months, Carla within the past year-and-a-bit, and Anthony graduated two years ago). We headed up to Horizon's Restaurant on Burnaby Mountain. A little expensive, but a good time was had by all.

Canadian Idol: Update, Late

Canada, at last you have taken my advice. You got rid of Tyler. Frankly now I don't really care who wins.

Good Luck Eva and Craig.

Canadian Idol: Update

Canada, Canada, what am I going to do with you? You kept Tyler, again. Come on, don't you know he SUCKS!!!? I am becoming disillusioned with the whole thing.

And, it has to be said, that Sass, what the hell were you thinking when you decided to go for dreads? Was the beer to hard to get out of your hair one night and you decided you liked the way it looked? If you are going to go with a hairstyle that looks ridiculous, at least go for something that would look a little better on you. Right now you just look unwashed. You, my dear, can NOT get away with this look. In fact it is kinda like how Preston Manning (former leader and founder of the Reform Party) looked when some idiot told him to get rid of the glasses. Take my advice and get a new stylist if this is what they told you would look good.

Ok Canada, I am giving you one more chance to get rid of Tyler, do not disappoint me!
